HOW Cu Chi Tunnels are 70 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City and can be reached by road or by boat.
WHAT The tunnels were an important part in the fight for independence against a better equipped enemy. There are over 200km of tunnels where fighters lived and fought with living quarters, kitchens and field hospitals accessed by hidden trap doors. Visitors can crawl through some specially enlarged tunnels to experience the claustrophobic living conditions. Visitors can also try out M16 rifles on a shooting range.
An excursion to Cu Chi can be combined with a visit to the colourful temple at Tay Ninh, the HQ of the intriguing Cao Dai religion, a fusion of Christianity, Islam and Buddhism. Visitors can observe the midday service from a viewing gallery.
WHEN Year round tropical climate but the months from November to February are a little cooler.
